Our Te Aramoana syndicate

This week the syndicate met for an assembly where children shared some of their work with the other classes.  There were pieces of art, charts and stories that showed some of our learning and class activities, as shown in the photos below.

Ivan is reading his story to the assembly audience.  You can read what he said on the Room 6 blog.

Waitangi Day celebrations at Whakarongotai Marae

It was awesome seeing children from Te Aramoana syndicate perform as part of Waikanae School's kapa haka group at the local Whakarongotai Marae on Waitangi Day.

As it was their first performance for the year I think we can expect great things from this group!

Thanks to all of the students and parents who came down to be a part of the celebrations on a very sunny and hot Waitangi Day!

There has been a very positive start to the school year and a lot of excitement over the first week discovering more about each other and the new classes.  In the Te Aramoana Yr 5-6 syndicate led by Mrs Michelle Fearon (Room 5), there are four classes of about thirty pupils each, with around fifty year fives and about sixty-seven year sixes.  It was great to meet a number of our parents over the first few days of term as you have arrived at school with your child, or after school as you have come to pick your child up.

One of our new teachers is Miss Grundmann (Room 19) who is 'local' and an ex-student of Waikanae Primary School, while Mrs Whyte (Room 18) was previously teaching in Cannons Creek, Porirua.  Mr Corlett (Room 6) is the final member of the syndicate team.

The school has around 435 children currently enrolled.  The roll continues to surge and we have at least one more class compared to the same time last year, with a number of new students who have moved into the school's zone from other places around NZ or from overseas.
